Why We Started Breeze & Influence
Breeze & Influence was born from a simple but powerful truth: Caribbean people move culture. Yet too often, the depth, brilliance, and complexity of our Caribbean identity and cultural stories are lost in translation or erased entirely. Particularly in a time of rising division, hate, and dismissal of diverse voices, documenting who we are is more than art: it’s resistance. It’s legacy work.
This magazine was created to amplify our voice, archive our brilliance, and refuse invisibility. We are here to document, uplift, and stir things up. Kavelle Christie is an award-winning health policy strategist, writer, and unapologetic culture nerd. Born in Jamaica and shaped by both island life and global experience, she created Breeze & Influence as a platform for cultural stories that are often overlooked by media, markets, and mainstream narratives.
Known for her work at the intersection of power, equity, and legacy, Kavelle brings a background in policy, storytelling, and public impact to every issue. She believes deeply in the power of Caribbean identity to shape the future, and this magazine is her love letter to that belief.
When she’s not writing, you’ll find her arguing about plant-based meals, walking her pups, Fancy & Mr. Tickles, planning multi-country adventures, or drinking coconut water straight from the source.
